Trump: We will take Iranian enriched uranium.. and Tehran initiated contact
US President Donald Trump said Washington is discussing with Iran in negotiations the requirement for Tehran to abandon nuclear weapons and uranium enrichment, noting that contacts were initiated by the Iranian side.
Trump told reporters: “We don’t want to see a nuclear bomb, no nuclear weapons (from Iran), not even close to it.. we don’t want uranium enrichment (by Tehran). They reached out themselves, not me. They want to make a deal, and we are very ready for that.”
The US president explained that Washington would take Iran’s enriched uranium as part of any future agreement, saying: “If we have a deal with them, we will come and take it ourselves,” adding that doing so would be “very easy.”
Trump predicted a meeting with Iranian representatives soon, saying that an agreement could be reached within five days or less, stressing that negotiations are taking place with a group of representatives, not a single leader.
