Iraqi Minister Reveals His Attempt to Assassinate Saddam Hussein in the 1990s – Watch the Video

Iraqi Minister of Labor, Ahmed Al-Asadi, has disclosed details of a secret operation aimed at assassinating former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein during the 1990s. He stated that the plan was devised in 1994 while the presidential palaces were under construction in Tikrit.
According to Al-Asadi, a group of workers from Basra, Dhi Qar, and Maysan was recruited to exploit their presence at the construction site to smuggle in weapons under his supervision, preparing for the operation. However, he noted that security restrictions and logistical challenges delayed the execution for an entire year.
In October 1995, during the referendum on Saddam Hussein, a 17-year-old young man was arrested in Basra while distributing opposition leaflets. Within two hours of interrogation, 16 others were detained, exposing the entire operation. All detainees were subsequently executed.
