Ireland officially recognizes the State of Palestine

Today, the Irish government officially recognized the State of Palestine.
She said in a statement that she had approved the decision at a cabinet meeting this morning, according to Reuters.
It added that it “recognizes Palestine as a sovereign and independent state and agreed to establish full diplomatic relations between Dublin and Ramallah.”
She also added, “An Irish ambassador to the State of Palestine will be appointed, along with a full Irish embassy in Ramallah.”
Keeping the hope of peace alive
Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris said that the move aims to keep hope for peace alive.
He also explained in the statement, “This decision taken by Ireland aims to keep hope alive. It is about the belief that the two-state solution is the only way for Israel and Palestine to live side by side in security and peace.”
While he called “once again on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to listen to the world and stop the humanitarian catastrophe that we are witnessing in Gaza.”
