Is it possible to grow in Antarctica without soil, tomatoes and peppers for example

Russian explorers succeeded in producing quantities of tomatoes and peppers in Antarctica by the method of hydroponics without soil, and according to what was reported by the media about the director of a specialized research institute, he indicated that 28.5 kilograms of tomatoes and 9 kilograms of peppers without soil were already produced through their cultivation. In an area of just over 1 square metre.

According to the institute, the Russians plan to plant 58 species of plants in Antarctica, and the goal is to achieve a yield twice as much as normal cultivation.

Hydroponics is one of the modern sciences in which seeds are grown with a nutrient water solution that provides the mineral nutrients needed for growth, and plants get all their nutrition through this nutrient solution that is provided to their roots.
