Israel approves a project to build an international airport near the Gaza Strip!

The Economic Affairs Committee in Israel has officially approved a plan to build a new international airport in southern Israel, near the Gaza Strip. According to a draft law awaiting approval from the Knesset, the airport will be built in the town of “Nevatim,” located about 65 kilometers, or less than an hour’s drive, from the Gaza Strip border. The construction of the new airport is expected to take seven years and will have the capacity to handle up to 15 million passengers annually.

Currently, Israel has three main international airports: Ben Gurion Airport, which is the largest and busiest, serving as the primary gateway for international travelers; Ramon Airport, situated in the south near the city of Eilat; and Haifa Airport, which caters to international travelers on a smaller scale. In addition to these, there are local airports and private airstrips used for various purposes, such as training and private aviation.
