Israeli Forces Conduct Raids and Arrests in Southern Syria, Expand Presence Near Border

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has reported that Israeli forces carried out a series of ground incursions and raids in several villages across the Quneitra countryside in southern Syria, resulting in the detention of six individuals, including a child. The operations come amid heightened tension and growing public discontent in the area.

According to local sources cited by the Observatory, Israeli troops entered the villages of Suwaysah and the vicinity of Nab’ al-Sakhr in the central countryside of Quneitra, where they conducted house searches. The raids reportedly involved verbal confrontations and instances of humiliation directed at residents.

The Observatory noted that Israeli military reinforcements—comprising more than ten vehicles—were deployed from a newly established base in the village of al-Adnaniyah, located in northern Quneitra. These forces advanced toward the Fourth Company area near the al-Manbatah junction, close to the village of Majdalya, a site previously used by the Syrian military.

In a related development, Israeli forces reportedly raided the village of al-Dwayyah al-Kabirah in central Quneitra in the early hours of the day, arresting two brothers after searching their family home as part of a wider campaign targeting several residences.

On Sunday, July 6, the area of Beer Ajam, near the Syrian Golan, witnessed Israeli military activity involving excavation and bulldozing operations, followed by the construction of earthen berms around the site.

Additionally, on the evening of Saturday, July 5, a separate Israeli unit consisting of three vehicles entered the village of Ruwayhinah in southern Quneitra, where troops carried out field inspections and surveys inside civilian homes.
