Israeli Official Calls for the Destruction of Gaza: “A True Leader Makes Decisive Decisions
Israeli Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu made controversial statements amid intense cabinet discussions regarding humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, calling for the complete destruction of the territory.
In an interview with Israel’s Channel 14, Eliyahu stated, “We should have erased Gaza from the beginning, just as we established our ‘state’ and won the Six-Day War,” stressing that hesitation is not an option and that a true leader makes decisive choices.
When asked why such destruction hasn’t been carried out yet, the minister said the issue lies not only with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu but also with a lack of clear vision for victory within Israeli institutions.
Eliyahu also voiced his dissatisfaction with the current Israeli military leadership’s concept of victory, describing it as more of a temporary truce rather than a full-scale war to eliminate the “enemy.” He argued that the current strategy focuses on achieving calm through repeated rounds of confrontation.
