Israeli Reactions to the Reopening of the Netzarim Axis and the Return of Residents to Northern Gaza

Israeli media reported that the Israeli army opened the Salah al-Din axis this morning to allow displaced people from the Gaza Strip to head north, after Israeli forces withdrew from the Netzarim axis. The newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth described this move as a loss of an important bargaining chip without achieving full gains.

The Israeli Defense Minister confirmed the continued strict enforcement of the ceasefire, warning that any threat to the Israeli army would be met with a firm response. Meanwhile, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir described the return of Gaza’s residents to the northern part of the Strip as “a humiliating part of an illegal deal,” criticizing what he viewed as Israeli concessions.

For its part, the Islamic Jihad Movement considered the return of the displaced as a response to attempts to expel the Palestinian people, emphasizing the overcoming of the crisis of the prisoner Arbel Yehud.
