Israeli Warplane Accidentally Drops Bomb in Western Negev During Gaza Airstrike
The Israeli military announced that a fighter jet from the Israeli Air Force unintentionally dropped a heavy bomb in an open area near the border fence in the central part of the western Negev. The incident occurred due to a technical malfunction during an airstrike targeting the Gaza Strip.
A military spokesperson explained that the incident took place yesterday during an aerial mission, noting that the bomb landed in an uninhabited area and caused no casualties. The relevant military authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances and technical cause of the malfunction.
This incident comes roughly a month after a similar event, in which another Israeli warplane mistakenly dropped a heavy bomb near Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak, also due to a technical failure. In an official statement, the kibbutz clarified that the bomb fell in nearby agricultural fields and did not cause any injuries. The kibbutz emphasized that it remains in close coordination with the Israeli military as investigations continue.
