Kohat mosque bombing killed at least 21 people and wounded about 80 others on Friday after an explosives-laden vehicle struck a mosque near police offices in northwestern Pakistan as armed attackers attempted to storm the compound.
Kohat Mosque Bombing Accompanied by Armed Assault
Police said at least seven gunmen attempted to enter the compound and exchanged fire with officers. Six attackers were killed, while another suicide bomber targeted a nearby intelligence office.
Many of those killed and wounded were police officers attending prayers.
No Immediate Claim of Responsibility
No group immediately claimed responsibility. The attack came amid rising militant violence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where Pakistani Taliban militants have repeatedly targeted security forces.
Pakistan accuses authorities in Afghanistan of allowing militants to operate from Afghan territory, allegations Kabul denies.
