Lebanese Army Announces Seizure of Weapons and Missiles, Foils Arms Smuggling Ring from Syria in Security Operation
The Lebanese Army Command – Directorate of Orientation announced in an official statement on Friday that army units carried out a high-level security operation, resulting in the seizure of a quantity of missiles, weapons, military ammunition, and explosive devices in the outskirts of the town of Aaiha Marj Al-Toumet – Rachaya. The operation followed extensive surveillance and tracking of suspicious movements in the area.
In a related development, a patrol from the Army Intelligence Directorate arrested eight individuals in the town of Kfarzabad – Bekaa, involved in forming a smuggling ring responsible for trafficking and selling weapons and ammunition from Syrian territory into Lebanon. Additional weapons, ammunition, and vehicles used in the smuggling operations were also seized.
The statement confirmed that the confiscated items were handed over to the relevant authorities, and the detained individuals were referred to the competent judiciary for further legal proceedings.
