Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said that Hezbollah’s involvement in the war represented a “strategic error,” noting that its repercussions affected all Lebanese citizens.

Salam explained that the Lebanese government continues its political and diplomatic efforts to halt the Israeli war on Lebanon, but these initiatives have yet to achieve the desired results.

He added that diplomatic moves encounter regional and international obstacles, including what he described as Israeli hardline policies and the United States’ focus on other issues in the Gulf region. He also noted that the situation in Lebanon is influenced by broader regional crises and ongoing conflicts, affecting the prospects for reaching a truce.

In a related context, Salam said that the activities of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, according to him, pose a concern for Lebanon’s national security. He clarified that the decision to tighten visa procedures for Iranian citizens was taken within this framework, citing security considerations linked to the regional situation.

Salam also affirmed that the government is determined to implement its recent decisions banning Hezbollah’s security and military activities. He added that state institutions, including the armed forces and judiciary, continue working to enforce these measures, noting that the circumstances of the war make implementation more challenging.
