Lebanese MP: Developments on the Border with Syria are Linked to Efforts for Normalization

Lebanese MP Qassem Hashem of the Amal Movement stated that the ongoing developments on Lebanon’s eastern border with Syria are part of what he described as “Israel’s geopolitical plan.”

Hashem explained that the military and security pressures exerted by Israel aim to push Lebanon toward a path of normalization of relations, which could lead the region into an uncertain phase, as he put it.

He pointed out that the map presented by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu before the United Nations General Assembly, which shows what is known as Greater Israel’s borders, is starting to manifest, according to him, in southern Lebanon and Syria.
