Lebanese Presidency Responds to Ortagus’ Statements: “Not Concerned”

The Lebanese Presidency confirmed that what was stated by U.S. Deputy Envoy to the Middle East, Morgan Ortagus, from Baabda expresses her own views, and the presidency is not concerned with it. This came after the statements she made during her visit to Beirut.

Ortagus had stated that Washington affirms the non-participation of Hezbollah in the new Lebanese government, emphasizing the United States’ commitment to partnering with the upcoming government. She also expressed Washington’s hopes for the end of Hezbollah’s role in Lebanon, considering that it had been militarily defeated and would no longer be able to influence Lebanese society, according to her remarks.

In the same context, images of the meeting between President Joseph Aoun and Ortagus circulated on social media, where activists pointed out that she was wearing a ring bearing the Star of David, sparking widespread reactions, particularly after her statements regarding Israel’s role in previous confrontations.
