Lebanon announces the opening of elections

The Lebanese Ministry of the Interior today announced Monday that it will open the way for parliamentary elections scheduled for next May.
The Ministry said that voting for expatriates abroad would take place on the 6th and 8th of May, while residents would vote on the 15th of the same month.
According to the Ministry, the number of voters was approximately 3 million and 970 thousand, including approximately 225 thousand expatriates, the second consecutive time that Lebanese expatriates participated in parliamentary elections.
These elections take on great importance as the first elections to be held after popular mobility in 2019, and their timing comes at a time when Lebanon is experiencing a suffocating economic crisis.
