Libyan Delegation Arrives in Damascus to Strengthen Bilateral Relations
A high-ranking Libyan delegation, led by Minister of State for Communications and Political Affairs Walid Al-Lafi, arrived in the Syrian capital, Damascus, on Saturday for an official visit – the first since the fall of Bashar al-Assad. The delegation includes the security advisor to the Libyan Government of National Unity, Ibrahim Al-Dabiba, and the director of military intelligence, Mahmoud Hamza.
Libyan media confirmed that the delegation will hold meetings with officials from the new Syrian administration, including its leader Ahmad Al-Shara, Foreign Minister Assad Al-Sheibani, and General Intelligence Director Anas Khattab.
The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that Al-Lafi conveyed a message from Libyan Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibeh, reaffirming Libya’s support for the Syrian people and the new administration, as well as a commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation in various fields.
Additionally, Al-Shara recently met with a high-level Bahraini delegation led by the head of the Strategic Security Agency, Sheikh Ahmad bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa.
