Philippine authorities raised the alert level for Mayon Volcano over the past hours amid indicators of a possible surge in volcanic activity. Officials urged residents to stay away from the volcano’s designated danger zone, while monitoring efforts were intensified to anticipate any sudden developments that could threaten public safety.

Precautionary measures around Mayon Volcano

According to officials cited by Reuters, the measures include expanding evacuation areas in nearby villages and enforcing a strict no-entry policy within the permanent danger zone surrounding the volcano. Additional emergency teams have also been deployed to closely track changes in seismic activity and volcanic emissions.

Mayon Volcano is located in Albay province, southeast of the capital Manila, and is considered one of the most active volcanoes in the Philippines. It has experienced multiple eruptions over past decades, causing casualties and significant material damage.

Authorities stressed that the current alert level does not necessarily indicate an imminent eruption, but reflects an increased probability of heightened activity. Residents were urged to strictly follow safety instructions and closely monitor official updates.
