Messi decides to buy a large stake in the club

Lionel Messi said he will buy 35 percent of a club’s shares and then play for them when his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires in 2023.

The Argentine international separated from Barcelona last summer after the Blaugrana failed to renew his contract due to their financial suffering.

He joined Paris Saint-Germain on a two-year deal and his next destination is expected to be the MLS, with DirecTV correspondent Alex Kandel saying Messi will sign with Inter Miami in 2023.

As according to Kandel, the 34-year-old is currently in the process of buying a 35 percent stake in US club Inter Miami.

“Leo Messi is still one of the best players in the world, and his skills have not diminished,” Jorge Mas, co-owner and CEO of Inter Miami, told the Miami Herald in February.

“I think, and David [Beckham] has a good relationship with him, that if he left PSG, we would like Messi to be an Inter Miami player and to be part of our community.”

He also concluded: “Could that happen? We will pay. I’m an optimist in my heart – can I see that happen? It is a possibility.”

Messi previously confirmed in an interview with Jordi Evol that he would be willing to move to the United States in the future.

“I’ve always dreamed of being able to enjoy and experience living in the United States, and experience what the league looks like there, but not yet,” Messi said in 2020.

The past year or so has also seen a number of Messi’s former teammates link up with Inter Miami, including Luis Suarez, who is set to become a free agent this summer, and Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.

At the moment, the biggest signings of Inter Miami are Gonzalo Higuain and Blaise Matuidi, but both of their contracts are due to expire on December 31, 2022.
