Wall Street Journal: U.S. Military options focus on swift strike, avoiding prolonged conflict

The Wall Street Journal reported that the United States has multiple military options to strike Iran if President Donald Trump decides to take action.

The report indicated that the Pentagon could launch Tomahawk missiles from U.S. destroyers stationed in the Middle East, deploy fighter jets based at regional airbases, and use strategic bombers from U.S. bases to target sites inside Iranian territory.

The report added that the U.S. military presence in the Middle East has recently decreased, with a large portion of forces and naval assets, including the aircraft carrier USS Gerald Ford and its strike group, relocated to the Caribbean and the Asia-Pacific region.

According to NBC News, citing a U.S. official and two sources familiar with internal discussions, Trump informed his security team that he prefers a “swift and decisive military strike” targeting the Iranian regime, aiming to avoid a prolonged confrontation. The president emphasized that any operation, if executed, should be rapid and conclusive, without extending over weeks or months.
