Mohamed Salah wins a new title as Premier League Player of the Season for the second time in his career.
Egyptian footballer Mohamed Salah, a forward for Liverpool FC, was officially named Premier League Player of the Season for the 2024/2025 campaign on Saturday.
Mohamed Salah: Consistent Individual Excellence
Salah adds this award to his growing list of personal accolades, reinforcing his status as one of the Premier League’s most consistent performers since joining Liverpool in 2017. This marks the second time he has received this honor, having previously won it in the 2018 season. He becomes only the third player in Premier League history to win the award twice, following Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne and former Arsenal forward Thierry Henry.

Second Individual Award for Salah This Season, Eyes on Golden Boot
Salah played a key role in Liverpool securing their 20th Premier League title with four matches remaining, drawing level with Manchester United in total league titles. He scored 28 goals and provided 18 assists this season, with one match remaining against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
With 46 goal contributions, Salah is now close to the record for most contributions in a single season, held by Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer and former Arsenal striker Andy Cole (47).
Earlier this week, Salah also received the Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year award at a ceremony in London. Meanwhile, the Golden Boot race remains tight between him and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé, who leads with 58 points compared to Salah’s 56. Both have one match remaining.

Salah Leads in Goals and Assists
The final round of the Premier League is scheduled for Sunday, with Salah currently leading the goal-scoring chart (28 goals), followed by Newcastle’s Alexander Isak (23 goals). This puts Salah in a strong position to claim the English Golden Boot.
Record-Breaking Season for Mohamed Salah
Salah continues to break records, further solidifying his legacy at both Liverpool and in the Premier League. He has scored 174 Premier League goals, becoming the highest-scoring African player in the competition’s history, surpassing Didier Drogba by 68 goals. He also overtook Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs in total seasonal contributions, reaching 272.
At Anfield alone, Salah has netted 103 goals, ranking third in terms of goals scored at a single venue, trailing the top spot by just 12 goals. He is the first player to contribute to 22 or more goals in away matches in a single season and has now recorded 20+ goals in seven consecutive seasons with Liverpool.
Additionally, Salah set a new record by scoring and assisting in eight different matches during the 2024/2025 season.

The Story Continues Through 2027
Liverpool has successfully extended Mohamed Salah’s contract until the summer of 2027, enhancing his opportunity to break additional records. Since joining in 2017, Salah has helped the club win two league titles, a UEFA Champions League, a FIFA Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, an FA Cup, and two Carabao Cups.
Under head coach Arne Slot, Liverpool is undergoing a squad renewal process with new signings expected and possible departures ahead of the upcoming season.
