Official Statement from Tel Aviv: Assessment of the Ceasefire Agreement with Lebanon and Upcoming Security Changes

The Israeli army announced changes to its internal security instructions starting from Monday. In an official statement, it clarified that activities in towns along the northern border line will transition from partial activities to full-scale activities without any restrictions.

The statement mentioned that the decision followed a security assessment session chaired by Chief of Staff General Herzi Halevi and approved by the Minister of Defense. It further indicated that this change reflects Israel’s assessment that the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon remains stable, despite ongoing Israeli air patrols and the presence of Israeli forces in five military sites in southern Lebanon.

The statement coincides with the scheduled return of residents in the northern areas to their towns in early March. On October 16, 2024, the Israeli army had announced the evacuation of residents from 28 settlements located within 2 kilometers of the Lebanese border. The National Emergency Management Authority in Israel confirmed that about 125,000 settlers have been evacuated from northern and southern regions since October 7.
