One Glass of Milk a Day May Help Prevent a Deadly Form of Cancer

A recent study conducted by Oxford University and reported by The Guardian has revealed that consuming just one glass of milk daily can significantly reduce the risk of developing bowel cancer.
According to the findings, consuming 300 mg of calcium daily—the equivalent of a half-liter glass of milk—or obtaining the same amount from dairy products and other calcium sources, is associated with a 17% reduction in the risk of this malignant disease.
The study’s lead author, Oxford University nutritionist Keren Papier, highlighted compelling evidence that calcium, whether sourced from dairy products or other means, plays a role in preventing colorectal cancer. This is achieved through its interaction with bile acids and fatty acids in the colon, reducing the carcinogenic effects of these compounds.
Bowel cancer is the third most common type of cancer, affecting around 2 million people annually. Studies predict that by 2040, the number of new cases each year will rise to 3.2 million, with annual deaths increasing to 1.6 million.
