President Aoun’s arrival in Syria

Today, Tuesday, Lebanese media reported that former Lebanese President Michel Aoun had gone to Syria to meet Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, 14 years after Aoun’s last visit to Damascus.
The sources indicated that former President Michel Aoun went to Syria in the morning, accompanied by former Lebanese Minister Pierre Raffoul, to meet with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Aoun was received on the Lebanese-Syrian border by the Syrian ambassador to Lebanon, Ali Abdul Karim Ali.
In turn, the Lebanese “Al-Jadeed” channel noted that the aim of the visit was to “emphasize the continuation of the relationship” with Damascus.
It is also mentioned that Aoun’s term as President of Lebanon ended in October 2022, and the Lebanese Parliament has not been able to elect a new president for the country since that date.
