Putin Sends Message to Syrian President Ahmad Al-Shara

Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a message to his Syrian counterpart, Ahmad Al-Shara, affirming Moscow’s support for the new administration’s efforts to achieve security and stability in Syria. He also expressed Russia’s readiness to engage in practical cooperation in this regard.
Putin emphasized Russia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with the new Syrian leadership across various issues on their shared agenda. The statement, made by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, highlighted the longstanding friendly relations between Russia and Syria.
Moscow, which maintains two key military bases in Syria and was a major supporter of former President Bashar Al-Assad, had previously expressed its desire to see a unified Syria. It also warned that continued instability in the country could impact the entire Middle East, especially in light of recent violence in Syria’s coastal regions earlier this month.
