A Chinese agency revealed the new measures to promote the “Belt and Road” initiative launched by Beijing years ago, noting that the process of linking with 68 external stations along the “Silk Road”, which has strengthened exchanges and trade relations around the world.
China has been working for years to promote and revive the idea of ​​the old Silk Line through its new initiative that connects the continents of the world, the most important of which was the launch of the first freight train last December, linking China and Europe through Russia, which runs from Chengdu, southwest China, to British Immingham .
According to the report published on China International Television, the train passes through Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus to Immingham, a British port and one of the largest in the world, during a journey that lasts only 15 days.
The agency noted that Immingham Station was the tenth overseas station for China-European flights from Chengdu last year, with the total of overseas stations along the “Belt and Road” project reaching 68 stations around the world.
The 68 stations cover the European continent and countries along the Belt and Road, and after eight years of development, China-Europe freight trains from Chengdu have expanded the coverage of their services and flights, with more than 2,000 trips annually so far. Meanwhile, the items shipped and their value are becoming more and more higher. And the proportion of smart home appliances and electronic products made in China increased to 69%.
According to the report, China has facilitated openness and cooperation between countries by taking Chengdu Customs Administration, located on the trade route, a set of measures aimed at improving the efficiency of customs clearance and reducing the cost of foreign trade for companies operating in it.
“To embody the spirit of the Silk Road, we need to enhance institutional openness in rules, regulations, management and standards, and promote equality, cooperation and mutual benefit. Through customs clearance facilitation measures, the overall customs clearance time for imports and exports has been reduced by more than 50% compared to 2017.” The director of Qingbeijiang Customs indicated that the domestic freight charges for freight trains returning between China and Europe are included in the taxable value by evaluating freight charges based on different parts, which reduces taxes on import companies concerned by 2%, or millions of “yuan” annually.
In addition, Beijing is working to develop the strategic city of Quanzhou in eastern China, with the aim of strengthening the initiative, by working in various foreign currencies and developing the tax system in line with that, and is also working to enhance the role of cross-border e-commerce, with the aim of delivering goods to foreign consumers in Within 10 days along the “Belt and Road” line.
“As a leading region on the Maritime Silk Road, we have taken the lead in various fields. At present, we are exporting to 178 countries and regions around the world, countries along the Maritime Silk Road account for more than 60%, and exports have maintained double-digit growth annually.” .
The report also indicated that since the beginning of 2018, the trade volume of this pattern has exceeded 85 billion yuan (13.4 billion US dollars), since last November, there have been 247 cargo ship trips on six lines on the Maritime Silk Road. 61.7 thousand containers of cargo were handled, an increase of 38.7% annually.
The agency cited the statements of an Egyptian trader, who indicated that many of his merchant friends had come to the Chinese city of Quanzhou with the aim of building factories during the past years, as the city provides a good option for exporting around the world.
