Resumption of Saudi-Iranian relations

The Iranian Civil Aviation Organization revealed a review of the resumption of flights between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

“After studying this issue, the necessary and official permits for these flights will be issued, and flights will be established between the two countries,” said Jaafar Yazerlou, a spokesman for the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization.

And Tasnim agency reported, “Monitoring the ticket sales website of Saudi Airlines indicates the possibility of purchasing a ticket for the Riyadh-Mashhad line.”

Last Friday, Iran and Saudi Arabia agreed to resume cooperation in the fields of security, trade and investment,” according to what they said in a joint statement with their mediator, China.

The statement said: “The three countries announce that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran have reached an agreement that includes agreeing to resume diplomatic relations between them and reopen their embassies and representations within a maximum period of two months.”

And it had severed diplomatic relations between Tehran and Riyadh in 2016, after an attack on Saudi diplomatic missions in Iran by protesters.

But in recent months, both sides have expressed their desire to resolve differences, and the Saudi crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, has said that relations with Iran should be built as with neighboring countries.
