Resumption of Saudi-Iranian relations

Today, Saturday, the European Union announced that it welcomed the agreement to resume diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran, and expressed its aspiration to implement the agreement.
The European Union said in a statement that given the major role that Saudi Arabia and Iran play in the region’s security, the resumption of relations between the two countries could contribute to the stability of the region as a whole.
The statement also added that promoting peace and stability and reducing tension in the Middle East are among the main priorities of the European Union, noting that the Union remains ready to engage with all actors in the region in a comprehensive manner and with full transparency.
Yesterday, Friday, Riyadh and Tehran announced that they had reached an agreement to resume diplomatic relations and reopen their embassies and representations within a maximum period of two months, in a move that was widely welcomed by many countries and international and regional organizations.
