Silent Russian Nuclear Dominance: Rosatom Controls 90% of Energy, Science, and Medical Markets

Alexey Likhachov, director of the Russian state corporation Rosatom, announced that the company holds more than 90% of the global market in nuclear power plant construction, nuclear science centers, and nuclear medicine. He made the statement during a strategic session on workforce preparation for Russia’s foreign economic activities.

Vasily Konstantinov, director of international technical projects at Rosatom, explained that the company is involved in an international scientific platform based on a multipurpose fast neutron research reactor located in Dimitrovgrad, Russia. More than 20 countries and foreign organizations participate in this project.

In a related development, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó announced that Washington lifted sanctions imposed on the Russian Gazprombank at the end of June, which had previously hindered funding for the Paks-2 nuclear power plant project in Hungary overseen by Rosatom.
