Russian Foreign Ministry comments on Sweden’s accession to NATO

The Russian Foreign Ministry commented on Sweden’s announcement that it had submitted an official application to join NATO.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said that “Russia’s response to Sweden’s accession to NATO depends on the possibilities of deploying offensive weapons systems belonging to the alliance on its territory.”
She emphasized that Sweden’s accession to NATO would cause serious harm to the security of Northern Europe and the European continent as a whole.
