Russian Transport Minister Reportedly Dies by Suicide Following Dismissal – Sources Indicate Imminent Legal Action

Sources from the Russian Investigative Committee have reported that Transport Minister Roman Starovoit died by suicide shortly after being dismissed from his position by a presidential decree issued earlier today.

The committee stated that an investigation is currently underway in Moscow Oblast to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the death. Preliminary findings suggest that suicide is the primary line of inquiry.

According to information provided to RT, Starovoit was facing potential arrest later in the day on allegations related to financial corruption and embezzlement. His body was reportedly found inside his personal vehicle in the Odintsovo district of Moscow Oblast. A firearm, previously issued to him by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in 2023 as a formal recognition of service, was discovered at the scene.

Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a presidential decree relieving Starovoit of his duties as Minister of Transport—a role he had held since May. Following the dismissal, Deputy Minister Andrei Nikitin was appointed as acting transport minister.
