Saudi Arabia and Syria’s return to the region

The Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister, Engineer Walid bin Abdul Karim Al-Khereiji, stated that Syria’s return to its Arab surroundings “restores stability to the region,” reiterating the Kingdom’s support for the efforts made to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis in a way that preserves its unity.
Al-Khuraiji’s statements came while he was heading the Saudi delegation, during the third session of the ministerial meeting of the Arab-Japanese political dialogue at the level of foreign ministers from the Arab and Japanese sides, at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo.
During his speech, Al-Khraiji touched on his country’s position on Syria’s return to the Arab League, stressing that this step will contribute to efforts to resolve the Syrian crisis, restore stability to Syria and the region, and preserve Syria’s security, stability, Arab identity, and territorial integrity.
The Saudi diplomat stressed his country’s commitment to humanitarian issues, stressing that Saudi Arabia did not hesitate to harness all its capabilities to serve these issues, and what is proven by the fact that the aid provided by the Kingdom over 70 years exceeded an amount of $95 billion, from which 160 countries around the world benefited. This puts Saudi Arabia in an advanced position among donor countries in the field of humanitarian and development aid, according to him.
According to Al-Khereiji, the Kingdom reaffirmed the importance of peace in the Middle East, as it considers it the strategic choice for Arab countries. It also encouraged negotiations to reach a just and comprehensive solution that meets the aspirations of the Palestinian people, in accordance with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. The Kingdom also expressed its condemnation of the repeated Israeli attacks, unilateral measures and provocations, which hinder the peace process.
Earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs in Yemen, Ahmed bin Mubarak, confirmed his attendance at the Arab League meeting held in Cairo yesterday, Wednesday, and Bin Mubarak published, through his official account on the “X” platform, confirming his meeting with his Syrian counterpart Faisal Miqdad in the capital. Egyptian.
The Yemeni government news agency also stated, in a statement, that this meeting is the first of its kind between the foreign ministers of Yemen and Syria, since 2011.
The agency reported that Bin Mubarak and Al-Miqdad discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance them, in addition to discussing current developments in the region and regional and international issues of common interest. The Yemeni and Syrian ministers stressed the importance and strength of the distinguished fraternal relations between the two countries and between the brotherly Yemeni and Syrian peoples.
