Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi Closes in Honor of Trump Visit
U.S. President Donald Trump visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, accompanied by Crown Prince Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Trump expressed his admiration for the mosque’s unique architecture, stating briefly in the Hall of Light: “Isn’t this beautiful? It’s very beautiful. I’m proud of my friends. I can say this is an amazing culture,” according to CNN.
During his visit, Trump commented on the exceptional decision made by the UAE to close the mosque for a day, describing it as a great honor for the United States and a significant tribute to the visit. He also asked accompanying journalists if they were enjoying their time.
After arriving at the entrance to the Hall of Light, Trump toured the outer courtyard, walking through the Sahn area and down a long corridor adorned with intricately patterned floral columns. Inside, he expressed his admiration for the main prayer hall, which features geometric carvings, gilded columns, vibrant chandeliers, and the world’s largest hand-knotted carpet.
He also viewed a gilded and ornately decorated wall alongside his guides and later posed for a commemorative photo at the center of the famous carpet.
