Signing a Turkish-Italian-French agreement soon

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan revealed that Turkey expects soon to sign an agreement with Italy and France on the production of SAMP-T air defense systems.

The Turkish agency quoted Erdogan as saying: “This is a very important topic for the relations between Turkey, Italy and France. During the last NATO summit, we discussed this issue with President Macron. During a meeting with Prime Minister Draghi (in Ankara on Tuesday), we discussed again the details, and our defense ministers discussed this. Also, we want to move to the SAMP-T agreement as soon as possible, and we want to sign it because it is of great importance to our defense systems. There is an agreement with the Prime Minister on this issue, similarly, we have an agreement with Macron on this. As earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that Ankara is conducting intensive negotiations on the production of SAMP-T air defense systems through the joint efforts of Turkey, France and Italy. According to him, Erdogan discussed this issue with the President of France and the Prime Minister of Italy. Cavusoglu indicated that these systems could be produced in Turkey.
