Statement from the Lebanese Presidency on the Israeli Withdrawal
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, in a statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic, expressed his concern about the possibility of Israel not withdrawing on Tuesday as scheduled. He emphasized the need for diplomatic efforts, as Lebanon can no longer endure another war. He also confirmed that the United States and France are working to ensure a complete Israeli withdrawal.
Aoun reassured that there is no cause for concern regarding sectarian strife or division within the Lebanese Army. He affirmed that army forces are ready to deploy in the villages and towns from which Israeli forces will withdraw and are fully prepared to protect the country’s borders.
Regarding the disarmament of Hezbollah, Aoun stated that the priority now is to achieve the Israeli withdrawal, and the issue of weapons will be addressed through solutions agreed upon by the Lebanese people.
