Sudanese Rapid Support Forces Confirm Commitment to Peace Initiatives
The Sudanese Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced on Friday their full and serious response to all initiatives aimed at ending the war in the country. The forces expressed their gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump and the leaders of the “Quartet” countries for their efforts to mediate and resolve the ongoing conflict since April 2023 between the Sudanese army and the RSF.
The RSF stated that the main obstacle to achieving peace lies with remnants of the former regime and leaders of the “Muslim Brotherhood Organization,” whom they hold responsible for igniting the war. The forces emphasized their commitment not to retreat from the goals of the Sudanese people, including dismantling the state of empowerment and corruption within the military and other state institutions.
The forces added that they are moving forward to address the root causes of the crisis and build a new Sudan with a professional national army free from extremist ideologies, while the Sudanese army maintains its refusal to accept any humanitarian truce before the RSF withdraws from residential areas and vital facilities, threatening military escalation if the demands are not met.
