SANA Reveals Details of Syria-Israel Meeting in Paris

Syrian state news agency SANA reported that Foreign Minister Assad Hassan Al-Sheibani met in Paris with an Israeli delegation, mediated by the United States, to discuss de-escalation in southern Syria and enhancing regional stability. The agency stated that the talks focused on monitoring the ceasefire in Sweida province and reactivating the 1974 disengagement agreement between Syria and Israel.

According to official sources, the two sides also discussed humanitarian conditions in the south and the need to increase aid directed to the residents of Sweida and Bedouin tribes to alleviate difficult living conditions. They addressed mechanisms to fully implement the 1974 agreement to prevent Israeli incursions into the territory. The discussions reaffirmed territorial integrity and rejected any plans for division, emphasizing continued efforts to reduce escalation and prevent the region from sliding into open confrontation.

In the same context, U.S. envoy Tom Barrett stated that he met with Druze spiritual leader Mowafaq Tarif, noting that the discussion covered the situation in Sweida and ways to ease tensions and build mutual understanding among all parties. Tarif confirmed his opposition to any attacks on the Druze and called for the establishment of a “Druze-to-Druze” humanitarian corridor to provide essential assistance.
