Syrian Minister of Education: School Curricula Will Remain the Same Until Review Committees Are Formed
The Minister of Education, Mr. “Nazir al-Qadri,” confirmed that the school curricula in all schools in Syria will remain unchanged until specialized committees are formed to review and audit them.
Al-Qadri added that instructions have been issued to remove any content that promotes the former Assad regime, and images of the Syrian Revolution flag have been adopted instead of the regime’s flag in all textbooks.
The minister pointed out that the announced amendments concern correcting some inaccurate information found in the Islamic Education curriculum, particularly regarding the misinterpretation of certain Quranic verses during the previous regime. He clarified that the correct interpretation, as stated in the approved Tafseer (exegesis) books, has been adopted for all educational levels.
