Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: Syrian Coast in Flames – Escalating Violence and Mass Displacement!
The director of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has revealed shocking figures regarding the human toll of recent battles in Syria’s coastal regions. The death toll has surpassed 400, including 193 civilians killed in multiple attacks in Jableh, Baniyas, and Hama.
More than 200 fighters have fallen in the clashes, including 90 members of the Internal Security Forces and the Ministry of Defense, who were targeted at various checkpoints.
While clashes in the coastal region are beginning to subside, full control is expected to be reestablished by the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Interior within the coming hours.
Tens of thousands of civilians have fled toward the mountains and Lebanon, fearing retaliatory actions.
The Observatory’s director described the events as a “criminal terrorist operation,” holding Brigadier General Ghiath Dalla responsible and calling for his prosecution.
The Observatory also warned of the dangers of militarizing society, emphasizing that weapons should remain in the hands of the state and stressing the need to reassure all components of the Syrian people.
