The American position on declaring a truce in Ukraine

The White House Strategic Communications Coordinator, John Kirby, said that “America opposes a truce in Ukraine,” because Russia will use the truce to strengthen its positions in Ukraine, regroup and strengthen its forces to resume attacks, as she put it.

 Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that “Russia did not reject the armistice proposals” out of a sincere desire to find a political solution.
