The final statement of the Paris conference supports the Syrian government with conditions for political transition.

Paris, February 14, 2025- The Paris International Conference on Syria concluded with the presence of Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani, issuing a final statement affirming support for the transitional phase in the country and calling for a cessation of all hostilities.

The conference participants confirmed their support for the Syrian transitional government in combating terrorism and extremism and announced the need to lift economic sanctions imposed on Syria to facilitate the process of reconstruction and development.

The final statement emphasized the importance of holding a national dialogue conference with the participation of all sectors of Syrian society and members of the Syrian diaspora abroad, committing to support the comprehensive dialogue mechanisms announced by the Syrian transitional government until free and fair elections are held.

The statement called for providing the necessary support to the transitional government to ensure that terrorist groups do not re-establish a safe haven on Syrian territory, stressing the need to combat all forms of extremism and terrorism and prevent the return of terrorist organizations.

The statement also confirmed the need to stop all hostile actions in Syria and support the unification of any remaining parts of Syrian territory through a negotiated political settlement, calling on all Syrian parties to fully commit to a national Syrian agenda.

The statement pointed to the importance of increasing the volume of humanitarian and developmental aid provided to Syria to meet the needs of the Syrian people and working to lift the economic sanctions imposed on Syria as soon as possible, as they hinder the interests of the Syrian people and the recovery of the economy.

The statement also affirmed support for the transitional government’s efforts to ensure accountability and combat impunity, and to resolve the issue of missing Syrian and foreign nationals, with support for the implementation of a transitional justice system.
