The French coach will stay with the roosters until 2026

The French Football Federation announced, on Saturday, the extension of the contract of national team coach Didier Deschamps until June 2026.

“The French Football Federation and its president, Noel Le Graet, are pleased to announce the extension of Didier Deschamps’ contract as coach of the French national team until June 2026,” the French Football Federation said in a statement.

Deschamps said that he will remain coach of the “Roosters” team until the 2026 World Cup, after leading his country to the World Cup final in the last two editions.

Deschamps’ contract, which began his career with France in 2012, ended after the last Qatar 2022 World Cup, when the defending champion finished runner-up behind Argentina on penalties after an exciting match.

Under Deschamps’ leadership, France won the 2018 World Cup in Russia and the European Nations League in 2021. The French national team also reached the 2016 European Championship final.

France is currently ranked third in the FIFA rankings, behind leaders Brazil and Argentina, which ranks second.

The French Federation also said that assistant coach J Stephane, Franck Raviu, goalkeeper coach, and Cyril Moen, coach of physical loads, will continue in their positions with the national team as well.
