The Kremlin Determines Its Position on Bitcoin

The Kremlin stressed that Russia is not ready to recognize the digital currency “Bitcoin”, and that there is no reason to take such steps.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov considered that equating this digital currency with money could harm the financial and economic system, describing it as a “quasi-currency”.
“In fact, equating [Bitcoin] with monetary instruments, it can bring nothing but damage to the financial and economic system,” he said.
Several countries have recognized the digital currency Bitcoin, and adopted it in their financial dealings, the last of which was El Salvador.
