The meeting of the Jordanian monarch with the US Secretary of Defense

The Jordanian monarch, King Abdullah II, during his meeting, today, Sunday, in the capital, Amman, with US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, stressed the need for calm and de-escalation in the Palestinian territories.
According to a press statement issued by the Jordanian royal court, “the Jordanian monarch stressed the need for calm, reducing escalation in the Palestinian territories, and stopping any unilateral measures that destabilize stability and undermine the chances of achieving peace.”
The Jordanian monarch also noted, during his meeting with Austin, the need to intensify efforts to create a political horizon that would pave the way for re-launching negotiations between the Palestinians and the Israelis to reach a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.
Where the Jordanian monarch reaffirmed the importance of establishing an independent, sovereign and viable Palestinian state, on the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The meeting dealt with, according to the statement, the strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States, especially in the defense field, as the Jordanian monarch expressed his pride in the historical friendship and continuous military cooperation between the two countries.
It should be noted that the US Secretary of Defense arrived in Jordan today at the start of a Middle Eastern tour that includes Israel and Egypt.
