The Pentagon Sends a Second Aircraft Carrier to the Middle East

The U.S. Department of Defense announced in a statement on Tuesday the deployment of a second aircraft carrier to the Middle East, along with additional warplanes, in a move aimed at strengthening naval assets in the region.

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell confirmed that the USS Carl Vinson will join the USS Harry S. Truman carrier group after arriving from the Indo-Pacific region. He stated that the purpose of this deployment is to enhance regional stability and protect the free flow of trade.

Parnell also noted that the Pentagon has ordered the deployment of additional squadrons and new air assets to the Middle East to reinforce the defensive capabilities of the U.S. Central Command, which oversees military operations in the region.

Clashes in the Red Sea

These developments come amid escalating tensions in the region, as U.S. airstrikes on Yemen continue. Meanwhile, the Yemeni Armed Forces have announced that they have targeted U.S. warships in the Red Sea, including the USS Harry S. Truman, three times in recent days.
