The Russian Foreign Ministry responds to Putin’s arrest warrant

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the International Criminal Court’s issuance of an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin “does not make sense from a legal point of view.”

This comes in response to a decision issued earlier by the court against Putin on charges of “committing war crimes and illegally transporting Ukrainian children to Russia, and that there is sufficient evidence to prove that.”

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov had preempted the court’s decision by saying that Russia does not recognize the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court, which is based in The Hague, in response to a question in this regard.
