The Saudi Foreign Minister demands a ceasefire

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan stressed the importance of the Palestinian people obtaining their rights.
The Saudi Foreign Minister discussed with his American counterpart, Anthony Blinken, developments in the Gaza Strip and its surroundings, and stressed the importance of taking all urgent steps to stop the fire in Gaza, according to what the Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement, today, Saturday.
He also stressed to Blinken the need to make all possible efforts to reduce the pace of escalation and ensure that the violence does not expand to avoid its dangerous repercussions on international peace and security.
He also stressed the need to create conditions for the return of stability and the restoration of the path of peace, to ensure that the Palestinian people obtain their legitimate rights, and to make more efforts to ensure the securing of relief corridors to deliver urgent humanitarian, food and medical aid to the Gaza Strip.
Yesterday evening, Friday, the United Nations Security Council failed to adopt a draft resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in the besieged Palestinian Strip, after the United States used its veto. The project received the support of 13 members of the Council, and one member abstained from voting, namely Britain.
While this American obstruction received widespread international and Arab condemnation. Palestine’s ambassador to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, condemned the obstruction of the draft international resolution, considering it a “disaster.” The Arab League, as well as Jordan and a number of international humanitarian organizations, also condemned the American position, considering it tantamount to approval for the continuation of killing operations against Palestinians.
Since the collapse of the temporary truce between Israel and Hamas, Israeli forces launched a ground operation in the south of the Gaza Strip, and intensified their violent raids on Gaza City, which exacerbated the number of dead and wounded, and deepened the humanitarian and medical crisis in the besieged Gaza Strip.
