The Security Council adopts a resolution on Afghanistan

The United Nations Security Council adopted a British-French draft resolution on the situation in Afghanistan.
The resolution calls for securing an evacuation corridor for those leaving Afghanistan beyond the 31 August deadline.
It also calls on the Taliban to ensure safe passage for those leaving Afghanistan.
The Security Council called for enhanced efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan and demanded that Afghan territory not be used to threaten or attack any country or to harbour terrorists.
