The Syrian President issues a new decree

On Monday, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad issued a new decree for the country’s Supreme Constitutional Court.
The decree stipulated renaming lawyer Muhammad Jihad al-Lahham as head of the Supreme Constitutional Court, renewing the nomination of 6 members and naming 4 new members.
The four new names included 3 judges and a female judge.
One of the most important competencies of this court is to supervise the presidential and parliamentary elections, and to consider and decide whether the President of the Republic or a member of the People’s Assembly has lost one of the conditions for nomination.
