The trial of five American policemen for killing one of the detainees
Five American police officers are facing charges of murder after the death of an African-American in early January. He died days after his “horrific” arrest, according to the indictment.
Attorney General Steve Mulroy said in a press conference that the five policemen, who are from Memphis, the largest city in the state of Tennessee, and are all African Americans, were accused of murder, assault and even kidnapping.
According to the police account at the time, when the policemen were approaching, a confrontation took place, after which the suspect fled, but he was soon stopped, but he complained that he was having difficulty breathing and was admitted to the hospital. He died three days later.
In a statement, US President Joe Biden called for a prompt, full and objective investigation into this tragedy.
