The U.S. Department of Defense Intends to Lay Off Employees and Reveals the Reasons

The U.S. Department of Defense Announces Plans to Reduce Civilian Workforce by at Least 5%
The U.S. Department of Defense has announced its intention to cut its civilian workforce by at least 5%, according to an official statement.
The statement clarified that the goal of eliminating jobs is to refocus on programs aligned with the president’s priorities and enhance the department’s efficiency.
Agence France-Presse reported that the department will begin laying off workers starting next week, with approximately 5,400 employees being dismissed as a first step. Following this, a hiring freeze will be implemented after an assessment of workforce needs.
Earlier, the U.S. Secretary of Defense stated that retaining these employees is not in the public interest, highlighting that those with poor performance reviews will be the first to be let go.
He also announced that the Government Efficiency Committee will have broad access to the Pentagon to target Democratic policies. He indicated that the committee will work to identify inefficiencies and eliminate the remnants of Joe Biden’s programs related to woke culture, racial awareness, and other “nonsense” that, according to him, is not at the core of the Department of Defense’s mission.
It is worth noting that Donald Trump tasked billionaire Elon Musk with making significant budget cuts, drastically reducing the number of government employees, and eliminating programs that promote the inclusion of women and minorities.
